D I S C O V E R E R

My projects aim to define my research and the context of the emerging field of Transoceanic Studies, and, more immediately, Transpacific Studies, a nascent subfield of both colonial Latin American Studies and colonial Asian Studies. I trace educated figures and their cultural exchanges across seas at the end of the sixteenth century. They created a knowledge-production network and stayed connected by exchanging important information regarding scientific and geographical discoveries, upcoming political changes, religious accomplishments, and colonizing projects.

My goal here is to discover these educated figures and their active participation across seas and lands. I use my findings to create an academic portal for better understanding of their legacy. This includes a visually engaging way for both scholars in my field and colleagues across different subjects and industries.
